At the end of each school year, most moms begin the search for the best summer activity for their kids. As much as we want them to enjoy the school break, we also want them to be productive while they're at it. Unfortunately, our busy schedule sometimes inhibits visiting or call different activity centers and we usually end up with what is most convenient.
Well, good news, moms! Mommy Mundo is bringing together the various summer activity options to one venue so that we only need one day to scout for the best summer activity for our children.
On April 2 and 3 (that's this weekend!), there will be a Summer Activity Fair at the High Street Activity Center (fronting Nike) in the Bonifacio Global City. Drop by anytime from 11am to 9pm and be ready for the #bestsummerever !
Last Tuesday, my sister Tammy and I decided to celebrate her birthday with a lunch date in the newly opened Gengki Sushi in BGC. We have actually eaten at a Gengki Sushi branch in Hawaii earlier this year and was not particularly impressed. But the rave reviews of the BGC branch were hard to ignore so we decided to give it a try.
The moment we walked in, we already knew the experience was going to be far from the branch in Hawaii. The place looked very vibrant with its white and red interior. The branch in Hawaii is probably the older Gengki Sushi set up with the sushi conveyor going around.
Each table is set up with its own menu tablet where you can place your order, plus a faucet for your matcha green tea refills.
Ordering is done by selecting the items listed under the different tabs on the tablet. You may place three orders at a time which will be reflected on the bullet train icon found at the bottom right hand side of the screen. Click on the red ORDER button to place your order and wait for a few minutes for the bullet train to deliver your food.
Food is delivered quite fast. Good service, bullet train!
Shrimp Kakiage for the birthday girl!
What I also love about the place is the bottomless matcha green tea. You get the matcha powder and have a hot water faucet for unlimited refill. I must say the matcha green tea is sooo good!
Here is a portion of our fun Japanese lunch. I was not able to take a photo but the tablet can also show you your running bill. A great way to avoid surprises upon billing out. Note though that there is a 10% add-on fee for service charge that is not indicated on the running bill review.
The food is good though nothing really exceptional taste-wise. I will definitely be back for the experience though. The kids don't eat sushi but they would love to see the train delivering the food. They have rice toppings and tempura anyway which are perfect options for the children. Try it out and tell me what you think.
Gengki Sushi is located at the 2nd level of the newly opened dining hub, Bonifacio Stopover, at the corner of Rizal Drive and 31st street in BGC.
Over a week ago, one of our friends gave us a voucher to the F1 Hotel in BGC. I've been to the hotel a couple of times to attend business and social events but haven't really stayed there overnight. One recent weekend, our family decided to have a little staycation at the hotel.
The voucher was for a City Suite. The room is usually priced somewhere from P7,650 to P10,200 per night, depending on the season, but my friend got it through Deal Grocer for only P4,800 which was such a steal.
The room has two double beds which, honestly, can comfortably accomodate four adults. Although they just allow 2 adults and 2 kids in the room. It has a spacious living area with a separate TV.

The hotel has a small foyer at the back of the building (facing the parking lot) so guests are asked the check-in at the Premier Lounge on the 5th floor.

The hotel also has a beautiful pool area on the 3rd floor. There are two pools and a jacuzzi on deck. All of them are near the restaurant-bar which gives a nice relaxing vibe to the place.
The restaurant at the 3rd floor boasts modern interiors.

The hotel also has a nice gym and spa which, unfortunately, we were not able to enjoy during our stay. Maybe next time :)

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from shops and restaurants within BGC. We walked across the parking lot towards Bonficacio High Street to grab some lunch and headed to S&R just across the street for some grocery shopping and a pizza dinner. It truly felt like a vacation abroad.
Our family had a wonderful weekend at F1 hotel. Thanks again, Han, for the treat. We will surely be back.
My best hotel souvenir. A note from Troy :) ALOVU 2, Anak.
